Best Cold Weather Shoes for Winter in Europe

This past October I was invited to experience a Viking River Cruise from Bavaria to Budapest. During that time of year, it’s usually cold and wet in southern Germany, Austria and Hungary so I had to pack smart in order to take the winter clothes I needed without having excess baggage fees. The weather can vary from day to day so I figured waterproof and warm was the best route.

I teamed up with UGG to rock some of their awesome foot wear because I heard they have the best cold weather shows for winter in Europe. They’re known for their stylish women’s sheepskin boots, but there’s also UGG For Men. I took along two pairs of shoes and one pair of slippers.

If you don’t know about UGG, they are a Southern California-based brand founded by an Australian surfer.  His Aussie roots forged a strong love for the versatility of sheepskin, which has become synonymous with the brand.

During my trip I experienced a mix of weather, from pelting rain, freezing wind, to warmer temperatures in the mid and upper 60°’s. My shoes were perfect for all the different climates.

The Hannen Boots were great for rainy days – they’re made of waterproof leather and lines with super soft UGGpure™ wool lining. They are also comfortable for walking. There was one particularly cold day in Vienna. I walked the entire city in my Hannen boots and not once did I feel the cold coming through to my feet.

The other pair I took were the Lamont sneakers, which are more lightweight than the Hannen. These were great for the warmer days. I like that they aren’t so casual that you can’t wear them out at night. These are also made of leather and come with a comfy insole and Treadlite by UGG™ outsole that kept me light on my feet.

The third pair I took along were the Scuff slippers, which have literally become one of my go-to lounging staples. They are made of extremely soft suede and have UGGpureâ„¢ wool lining inside, which made them my go-to shoe for lounging around the ship and in my room.

You can also check out more photos and information on my epic river cruise in this article on the UGG blog. I partnered with UGG For Men for this experience. All opinions are my own.
