Where to Eat in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

In this video, I show you some of the best places to eat in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This city may have been ravaged by a horrific war in the 1990s, but it has since rebounded not only into a fantastic tourist destination, but also into an amazing city for foodies! We start off our gastronomic tour of Sarajevo by eating the cevapcici, the national dish in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Petica Cevabzinica

Cevapcici is one of my favorite dishes to eat in the Balkans. It’s a tender minced meat kebab that is served with chewy, crispy bread, and raw onions. The onions add an acidic bite and turn an already top-notch meat dish into a mouthwatering culinary wonder. One of the top restaurants to eat cevapcici is at Petica Cevabzinica.

Buregdzinica

Next, we head to Buregdzinica to try some traditional pies, similar to burek. We tried one with cheese, another with cheese and spinach, and one with potatoes. They delicious by themselves, but if you want to eat them the traditional way, try these pies with yogurt. It adds a cool, creamy element that pairs so well with the fillings and flaky crust!

4 Sobe Gospode

Our next spot to eat in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina is 4 Sobe Gospode. There, you can try Bosnian fusion cuisine accompanied by local wines. We tried a beef carpaccio, a mushroom risotto, and a roasted lamb with house wine. Do I even have to tell you how amazing it was? The beef carpaccio was nice, juicy, and tender, while the mushroom risotto had a nice richness and creaminess to it. And the roasted lamb–my favorite meat–paired perfectly with the house wine. It was a magnificent meal!

Restaurant Dveri

Lastly, we headed to Restaurant Dveri. They offer a mix of European and Bosnian food. There, we had a hearty Hungarian goulash and a delicious, meaty steak. They also have an extensive wine list from the Herzegovina region, so if you’re a wine lover, this is the perfect place for you to try lots of regional wines. It’s a must-visit if you’re looking for great places to eat in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina!
