David’s Been Here heads to Kirinda, a coastal town in Yara National Park. Join David as he climbs up to a local Buddhist/Hindu temple, built not only for devotees and worship, but also to warn the local community about the dangers of the turbulent sea. Built by a king in dedication to his mother, this temple is home to many statues of Hindu gods and icons, as well as a beautiful stupa built into the rocks overlooking the Indian Ocean below. Before heading back into Tissamaharama, David receives a blessing from the local caretaker of the temple. Unfortunately, it didn’t protect David from burning his mouth (again) on the hot Sri Lankan curries. For all the local towns and to do’s around the Yala area, check out the DBH Guide: Yala National Park, also available for your Kindle.
