David’s Been Here is touring all the top sites and best day trips from Moldova’s capital city of Chisinau. In this short clip, David brings us the Holy Trinity Monastery, located in the town of Saharna. A 90-minute drive out from Chisinau, this picturesque monastery is divided into both “new” and “old” parts, dating back to 1495 and 1777, respectively.
Home to 16 resident monks, the relics of St. Cuvios Macarie and a “footprint” of St. Maria (on the monastery’s highest cliff), the Holy Trinity Monastery is the biggest religious pilgrimage site in the entire country. Also home to the Rock Cave Church of the Annunciation, follow David through the forest as he brings us to this incredible historic site- founded by Russian Orthodox monks back in 1495. With so much to see and do in and around the area, this trip out to Saharna is definitely a day trip from Chisinau well worth taking!
