In late 2017, I went on an epic trip that saw me hit four different countries around the world in one go! After spending four epic days in Thailand and another four amazing days exploring the Philippines, I had a 12-hour layover in Singapore! Come along with me on my last day in Asia as I spend 12 epic hours in Singapore and take you to some of the main sites, hawker centers, and have a few unexpected surprises!
I started my day at my hotel, the Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore. This is one of the best accommodations in Singapore and is truly a great place to stay when you visit. First, I headed out to see the legendary Merlion and gaze at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. It’s one of the most well-known modern architectural marvels in southeast Asia. They have tons of entertainment options inside, amazing restaurants and lounges, and a world-famous infinity pool that overlooks the entire city!
After checking out the Marina Bay Sands from afar, I headed off to eat a typical Singaporean breakfast. It was really delicious! Then, I went to Bugis Street to buy some souvenirs. I also got a manicure and pedicure, which was so relaxing and refreshing! I felt so much better afterward. If you only have a few hours in Singapore like I did, this is a must!
After my mani-pedi, I headed off to a local hawker center for lunch. I enjoyed some delicious carrot cake and an amazing fried banana! From there, I headed back to the Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore to relax for a bit before I headed out to another hawker center. This time, I got some outstanding noodles and incredible dim sum. The dim sum was even better than the kind I had in China!
Then, I headed off to the beautiful Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. It’s so gorgeous!
I learned that my good travel friend Rachel Rudwall happened to be in town on a layover, so we caught up for some drinks before I headed to Little Island Brewing Co. There, I enjoyed some delicious beers before heading off to Changi Airport to catch my flight with Finnair. My travels weren’t over just yet! My whirlwind global trip was taking me next to Helsinki, Finland, where I had booked an awesome job and would spend a few days before finally heading home.
