1. Go swimming at the beach
The Gold Coast wouldn’t be the Gold Coast without amazing beaches. The most popular beach is, of course, Surfers Paradise, it’s right by the city centre so you can go for a dip in the water before turning around and doing some shopping. There are more beaches to visit though, like Mermaid Beach, Main Beach, Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach and more. All these beaches are why surfing and swimming is one of the best things to do on the Gold Coast.
2. Visit SkyPoint in the Q1 Building
SkyPoint stands 230 metres tall and boasts Australia’s only beach-side observation deck. You can look out over the water, taking insights you’ll get nowhere else in the world, from coast to hinterland. Enjoy a meal and a drink while you do some whale spotting from the observation deck for a meal you’ll never forget.
3. Have some fun at the Gold Coast Aqua Park
If you’re looking for some fun in the sun and in the water, the Aqua Park is one of the best things to do on the Gold Coast. Open to children and adults (at least 5 years old and able to swim and all under 10 must be accompanied by an adult), the Aqua Park is inflatable fun. Jumping about at the park is like participating in an aquatic obstacle course. Race against friends or keep things casual and climb, jump, and swim at your own pace.
4. Go Snorkelling
Queensland is home to a unique ecosystem of underwater life. You won’t find fish, coral, and plants like this anywhere else. Grab a snorkel and get swimming. Take it slow and the fish might even come up to you and swim around you. Join a class or course and follow an instructor—not only does this make it safer, but they’ll also know all the best spots to go to find the most interesting fish.
5. Go to the amusement parks
No list of the best things to do on the Gold Coast is complete without mentioning the popular amusement parks. If you love a water park, you’ll want to visit WhiteWater World, Sea World, or Wet’n’Wild. If straight adventure is more your pace and you love jumping on rides and roller coasters, then you’ll want to see Dreamworld or Warner Bros. Movie World. Within all the parks are kid-friendly spaces as well as heart-pounding thrills. If you love some excitement with your holiday, a trip to an amusement park or two is the best thing to do on the Gold Coast for you.
