Day 3 – Port Fairy to Mount Gambier
A 156km drive brings you to Mount Gambier. Along the way, you will enjoy stunning views, with the roads lined with pine trees as you leave the ocean behind. We recommend enjoying the following stops along the way:
- The Giant Yambuk Slide – enjoy the view from the steps before enjoying the 33-meter-long slide
- The Blue Lake – where you can enjoy stunning views and several loop walking trails
Day 4 – Mount Gambier to Kangaroo Island
Today’s 615 km drive takes you to Kangaroo Island, where you can stop along the way and enjoy some beautiful sights, including:

Day 5 – Kangaroo Island to Adelaide

Day 6 – Adelaide to Port Lincoln

- South Australian Aviation Museum – enjoy the largest displays of civil and military aviation artefacts in South Australia
Day 7 – Rest Day
We recommend stopping at Port Lincoln and enjoying a rest day, where you don’t need to worry about driving and can enjoy the stunning sights and activities on offer. During your rest day, check out the following:
- Glen-Forest Tourist Park & Vineyard – where you can see wombats, koalas, water buffalo, and other animals
- Whalers Way – to enjoy some fresh air and overnight camping
Day 8 – Port Lincoln to Ceduna
A 404km drive from Port Lincoln takes you to Ceduna, but there are plenty of stops to enjoy along the way, with stunning views. Our favourites include:
- Coffin Bay – where you can enjoy clear waters and sandy dunes
- Streaky Bay – to enjoy walking trails, cafes, and restaurants with stunning ocean views
Day 9 – Ceduna to Mundrabilla
Enjoy a scenic 598km drive, where you can see sights carved by nature and man-made, with some interesting stops to make along the way, including:
- Penong Windmills – where you can see a collection of windmills and Australia’s largest windmill
- Blow Holes & Caves – including Murrawijinie and Cocklebiddy caves, where you can enjoy nature wonders
Day 10 – Mundrabilla to Salmon Gums
Today is a long 740km drive, but it’s worth going the distance to enjoy unique attractions and learn new things. During your drive, we recommend stopping at:
- Norseman – to see the longest golf, tin camel statues that pay tribute to the camel trains used in the areas early days
- Salmon Gums War Memorial – to pay your respects to those lost in wars and learn about Australia’s history
Day 11 – Salmon Gums to Esperance
Enjoy a shorter 111km drive today where you can enjoy a stunning area of natural beauty at Esperance. During your time here, check out:

Day 12 – Esperance to Albany
