Day Trips from Galle and Yala National Park

David’s Been Here heads towards Yala National Park, stopping in the city of Matara along the way. Here David gives a quick tour of this commercial hub, showing the remains of a Dutch Fortress dating back about 400 years. Another area of Sri Lanka deeply affected by the 2004 tsunami, you can see much of the damaged city still undergoing repairs. Back on the road, David continues on towards Tissamaharama, checking out the salt deposits and local snacks along the way. Reaching the outskirts of Yala National Park, David is ready to embark on his first safari into the second largest and most popular reserve in the country.
