A Walk Through Ancient Vitoria: Touring the Cathedral Santa Maria

David’s Been Here is in Spain’s Basque Country, touring the beautiful and historic city of Vitoria-Gasteiz. Join David as he gets a glimpse behind the scenes of the city’s 13th Century Santa Maria Cathedral. Despite its renovations, David and crew head inside to get some more information on this interesting and unique church. Once acting as a border zone, the cathedral was initially built as a ‘fort church’ on the city’s frontier. Later its inside was converted to a Gothic style cathedral, while the exterior held onto its fortified look. Check out the images and explanations as David displays how some parts of the cathedral used to look, and how they currently look today. Production by Carlos de Varona from Chromahouse.
