Guatemala’s Landscape: Lakes and Volcanoes

David’s Been Here heads from Guatemala City to Lake Atitlan, a three hour drive west into the Guatemalan highlands. Before reaching the Lake, David and crew stop in the town of Solola, which at 600 meters high, is one of the highest towns surrounding the lake. Here David tours the quaint town, clock tower and city hall, and its central market- selling everything from traditional Mayan clothing to delicious street food. Check it out as David tries some tortillas, tamales wrapped in banana leaf, and Sapote- a fresh, soft, local fruit. With great views of the lake and Atitlan Volcano in the background, it’s a wonderful stop when on the way to the Lake.
