Costa Mesa is located in Orange County, California in the United States of America and has a population of about 110,000. Situated close to both Newport Beach and Anaheim it is a popular visiting place for tourists so that they can be in easy access to both. Newport Beach is the site of the west coast’s largest recreational port and so have plenty of attractions for visitors.
As well as having some excellent walks which include some along the beaches as well as some along the cliffs that offer some really breathtaking views, there is surfing, sailing, stand-up paddle boards and sunset cruises, something or all the family. Anaheim, located just to the north of Costa Mesa also has its own attractions that, of course, include Disneyland, but Nott’s Berry Farm is also nearby as well. Although Costa Mesa is located between these two superb and popular tourist destinations, the better, more popular travel blogs will tell you it can offer a diverse selection of activities for visitors itself.
In all there are 26 parks located in Costa Mesa and among the most popular of these are Fairview Park with its 208 acres that are ideal for hiking, cycling and horseback riding, TeWinkle Park, which is an ideal spot for picnics by the lake whilst watching one of the many sporting activities that take place in the park and Volcom Skate Park which has facilities that cater to all levels of skaters and skateboarders. There is even something for the budding aviator as, the John Wayne/Orange County Airport offers airplanes for charter or lease as well as offering certified pilot classes. Probably the four most popular activities enjoyed by visitors are though:
Rockreation is a 12,000 square foot facility that caters to all kinds of rock climbing including bouldering, top-rope climbing and also lead climbing. Climbing is a great way to increase body strength and stamina and apart from all the cool equipment needed for climbing with flooring that avoids injury and specially sculptured climbing terrain, there are also instructors on hand for the less proficient.
Costa Mesa is renowned for its very impressive Segerstrom Center for the Arts which include the Segerstrom Hall with 3,000 seats, the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall with 2,000 seats, the Samueli Theater with 500 seats and the 250-seat Founders Hall, all of which combine to allow visitors to experience the best of both national and international song and dance.
Most tourists prefer to be able to enjoy an assortment of exciting and enjoyable night life after a hard days sight-seeing or amusement and Costa Mesa is certainly able to provide that with the creative cocktails to go with the adventurous cuisine of the Mesa Lounge, the top DJs of the world playing in the state of the art visual and audio facilities of Sutra nightclub, the Shark Club where drinks can be enjoyed alongside the 2,000 gallon shark aquarium or visitors can experience the food and the music of Ireland in the Harp Inn.
For those visitors that like to shop there is the South Coast Plaza, which is renowned for both its architecture and size. This huge shopping complex is home to over 320 different shops and generates over a billion dollars every year. As well as retailing some of the best internationally known products, the plaza is also home to some world class fare in its over 30 restaurants, offering a complete and full shopping experience for any visitor or even for any locals wishing share the excellent facilities.
