Massive Indian Penthouse Apartment Tour in Al Asbab Society | Ahmedabad, India

Traveling through India, Airbnb-style, is the best way to do it! You get to stay among the locals in great apartments, like the amazing Indian penthouse apartment Sam and I called home during our time in the final city of our epic Indian trip, Ahmedabad. Come along with me as I take you 20 minutes southwest of the city center to the Regency Park Plaza!

The ground floor of our building consisted of retail space and restaurants, including a chicken place, which I found interesting since the state of Gujarat is a mostly vegetarian state. To get up to our apartment on the top floor, you have to go through the side entrance, via an alleyway, where there is a lobby where the residents park their scooters. There are also old-school electrical boxes and mailboxes along the walls. When riding the elevator, you have to properly close the gates before you can operate it. As we rode up to the fifth floor, we could see peeks of the lower floors.

Inside our Indian penthouse apartment is an extremely spacious living room with two couches (including one that pulls out into a bed), and two chairs (including a massage chair). Just off the living room is a dining room with a table, six chairs, and some cabinets stocked with dishes, utensils, and glasses.

Our apartment’s kitchen is also very spacious, with a large refrigerator, a microwave, a sink with a clean water dispenser, an oven and stovetop, a toaster, a coffeemaker, a WiFi modem, and lots of counter space, which is where Sam set up his computer to work.

Next up was Sam’s bedroom, which was nice and roomy. It had a queen-sized bed, and a nice-sized wardrobe with extra bedding. Off Sam’s bedroom is a large and clean upgraded bathroom. The bathroom had a toilet, sink, and a shower with a divider and shower curtains. Unlike the bathrooms at our other Airbnbs in India, these didn’t require water heaters!

I took the huge master bedroom this time around. It contained a king-sized bed and an armoire where I set up my computer. I also had all of my equipment charging there. There was also a sitting area with two chairs and a tiny table between them. My bathroom was large and minimal, but decent. It had a toilet, sink, and a large shower with a divider and shower curtain. Controls for the shower and hot water are on the wall. Off the bedroom is a nice-sized, terrace that’s fenced-in to keep the local monkeys out!

A door in our living room leads to my favorite feature, our massive terrace. It was practically as big as the apartment itself! On the terrace are a swinging seat, a table with an umbrella and chairs, and a small garden. The terrace actually has two levels! The second level is accessible via a staircase and is used as a temporary storage area. The terrace also has awesome views of the city!

Best of all, we got this amazing living space that’s probably around 2,500 square feet for only $40 U.S. per night! A hotel room that’s just a fraction of this size in my hometown of Miami would be upwards of $300 per night, so this was an unbelievable bargain!
