5 Things You Must Do in Orlando

Orlando, Florida is the ultimate family travel destination. Between its gorgeous weather, world-famous theme parks, and exciting downtown area, there are several things you must do in Orlando. No matter whether you’re young, old, or somewhere in-between, there is something for you there!

The sheer variety of options makes Orlando well-rounded, and there are enough hidden gems to surprise you at every turn. I highly recommend you book a rental car in Orlando so you can easily visit all the places you want to see. These are the 5 things you must do in Orlando!

Walt Disney World

The crown jewel of any trip to Orlando is a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Young fans will have the time of their lives meeting their favorite Disney princesses in the Magic Kingdom. Future World and the cosmopolitan World Showcase pavilions at Epcot are must-visits, as is the iconic Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom.

The Africa and Asia sections of Animal Kingdom allow visitors to get a peek at these stunning continents without having to leave Florida! Meanwhile, Star Wars and Toy Story lovers can visit parks dedicated to both film franchises in the Hollywood Studios theme park. Wearing my Disney clothing during my park visit only made my visit even more fun! It’s no wonder Walt Disney World is the most-visited vacation resort on Earth!

Universal Studios

Another thing you must do in Orlando is visit the city’s other world-famous theme park, Universal Studios. This park is part of the larger Universal Orlando complex, which also includes the neighboring Islands of Adventure theme park. Universal Studios is known for its rides and areas based on popular Hollywood blockbusters.

Kids will have a blast on the Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem 3D ride. Older park visitors will enjoy the thrills and chills of the Revenge of the Mummy coaster, the Men In Black Alien Attack ride, and Transformers: The Ride 3D. The park’s most popular area, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, features several rides and shops ripped from the iconic film franchise.

Downtown Orlando

With so many theme parks, it’s easy to forget that Orlando also has a fun and interesting downtown area. After you rent a vehicle in Orlando, drive to Church Street, which is closed off on Fridays and Saturdays and becomes a weekend hotspot. Have lunch at Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant, which offers a succulent seafood paella and some of the most delicious oxtails you’ll ever eat!

Spend some quality time with a loved one by renting a paddleboat on Lake Eola and then gather the family for an exquisite fine dining experience at 310 Lakeside. If you’re a beer aficionado, downtown Orlando also boasts several fantastic breweries, including Orlando Brewing and Broken Cauldron Brewery and Taproom. Sampling a flight of their beers is one of the most fun things you must do in Orlando!

Wild Willy’s Airboat Tours

After you’ve arranged a rental car in Orlando, one thing you must do is take a 45-minute drive south from downtown to Lake Tohopekaliga. Here, you’ll find Wild Willy’s Airboat Tours, which offers guided airboat tours around the lake, where you’ll find alligators, deer, turtles, bald eagles, snakes, and more.

Keep your eyes peeled, especially if want to see alligators. The smaller gators like to flee quickly while the larger ones tend to hide from the airboats. Once you return to the shop, introduce yourself to Sergio, a young gator who was farmed there. It’s one of the top things you must do in Orlando!

Aquatica Orlando

A trip to Florida isn’t complete without making a splash at one of its water parks, so hire a car in Orlando, grab the family and head over to what many consider the city’s best, Aquatica Orlando. Those looking to unwind can relax at a beach, drift along one of its lazy rivers, or rent a cabana for extra privacy.
