Traveling to Pakistan!! Landing in the City of Lights | Miami to Karachi, Pakistan

After 13 years of traveling the world professionally, I finally crossed another dream location off my bucket list in March of 2021: Pakistan! Come with me on my latest traveling adventure as I make the journey from Miami to the City of Lights, Karachi, Pakistan!

I’ve been wanting to visit Pakistan my entire life! I really wanted to get a feel for the real country beyond the headlines, meet the people, dive into the food, and really immerse myself in the culture. What I experienced there blew my mind and I can’t wait to show you why in this series.

Over the course of 12 days, I’d travel through the country, starting in Karachi before making my way to Peshawar, Mardan, Islamabad, Gujranwala, and finally, Lahore. I’d be teaming up with Manaky, a premium travel marketplace that offers curated tours and unique travel experiences in Pakistan. If you want to explore Pakistan properly, they’re the best people to team up with!

My adventure began, as always, at Miami International Airport in my hometown of Miami. To get to Karachi, I’d be flying nearly 13 hours with Qatar Airways to Doha, Qatar. After a three-hour connection, I would have to hop a second, two-hour flight to Karachi.

Because I was Platinum with One World, I was seated in my own row. Thirteen hours later, I was in Qatar! Qatar Airways is the best airline in the world. They really take care of you and the food and entertainment options are always top notch!

I took some time to relax in the luxurious Al Mourjan Business Lounge, which feels like a five-star resort or boutique hotel! The Arabian-inspired ambience is beautiful. You have to have a Business Class or First Class ticket to get in. They offer showers, free WiFi, and great food, including biryani and mutton!

From the lounge, I passed through the center of the airport past the famous Lamp Bear. The man who scanned my passport is a fan from Lahore! It’s always fun to meet people who enjoy my work! After landing in Karachi at 2 a.m., I met up with Furqan, my tour guide from Manaky who would be with me during my time in Karachi. I was pumped and ready to eat and explore!

We left the airport and set off to my hotel, the Hotel Excelsior Karachi. From there, we followed the Shahrah-e-Faisal, which is the main highway that connects the airport and the city center. We were hoping to find some food!

I made it to my room and checked in. The room was big, spacious, and modern. I loved the workstation, the mini-fridge, the bathroom, and the lockbox. It was a beautiful and clean space and the perfect place for me to lay my head at night. I would need a good night’s sleep so I could hit the ground running in the morning!
